COME!
The Enemy speaks in an entirely different voice than Holy Spirit does. For some reason, it often seems very easy to get those two voices confused. I have been actively seeking out and asking for more discernment so that confusion does not happen so often and I must say, God seems very interested in dispensing that particular gift.
“We
have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you
because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time
you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the
elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not
solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not
acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is
for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to
distinguish good from evil”
Hebrews 5:11-14
Distinguishing between good and evil, or
discernment, is often hard to find in today’s world, but I promise
you, it is not so hard to come by. God is eagerly waiting for us to
simply ask Him for it. The below poem explores this idea.
Your
carnal adversary will attack
In various nefarious
ways
Aggression that is pushing you towards hatred
Hatred
that demands retaliation
Demands that speak with clamorous,
blaring voices
To your flesh
But the Spirit sings a
different song
Your walls of life are filled with
art
Painted in carnal colors of
Shadow
With brushes of
darkness
Framed with glitzy bits of
Chintzy
nothing
Undelivered promises
But the Spirit sings a different song
The
carnal poet spins his clever yarns of bondage
Tales of dark
adventures that are only
Enthrallment in disguise
Hopeless
roads that lead through
darkening canyons
Into lonely
graves
Unmarked
But the Spirit sings a different song indeed
A
lone, unlonely voice is calling
Come!
You, who labor with
your moribund burdens,
Come!
A hand is knocking, pounding
on your prison
Like a Holy drum of hope that’s
speaking
Come!
Here, there is a river
Filled with life
that never ends.
Here there is a promise that can never break
Or
be extinguished
Here there is a draught that will
Assuage
forever
Never thirsting
Here there is a table
Always
ready for your hungers
Here there is a glass
Forever filled
with your salvation, you must
Come!
